A lot of reading happens in schools – but mostly texts by men. Women’s perspectives? Rare. Feminist narratives? Hardly ever. And yet the curriculum clearly states: students should question discrimination and engage with different worldviews.
Because stories shape how we see the world – and show us who we can be!
That’s why ≠igfem Austria, together with the European partner organizations Fixdit (Netherlands), Schamrock (Germany), and Today Art (Armenia), has created several feminist reading lists – for schools, universities, and anyone of any age who is curious. With powerful texts and perspectives from women writers past and present.
or more diversity in the classroom. For more justice on the bookshelf. For more joy in reading!
ABOUT THE PROJECT
EPESEP is an EU project funded by Creative Europe that aims to make the working and living conditions of women authors in Europe visible – and to improve them sustainably. Within an international network, we bring together experts from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Armenia to collect data on income levels, opportunities for public appearances, and social security for women authors. Based on curated reading lists, writing groups, and surveys, we develop concrete recommendations and measures. International symposia and public readings foster exchange and strengthen the visibility of women’s voices. In this way, we contribute to greater equality and diversity in the cultural and literary landscape.
